Deidre Hall has reigned as one of America's most beloved actresses since her debut as Dr. Marlena Evans on NBC's Days of our Lives. Since then, she has enjoyed a successful career that spans both daytime and nighttime television, film & theatre, the likes of which few can match.
Deidre has compiled an impressive list of awards and nominations. She was named Best Television Role Model; won the prestigious American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) award in 1994; garnered 6 Best Actress nominations from Soap Opera Digest, with 5 wins, and recently added a nomination as half of one of daytime's Hottest Couples. She has also received 3 Emmy Award nominations as well as 2 nominations as Best Actress in the People's Choice Awards.
Her primetime credits range from her starring role in the movie "A Reason To Live" with Peter Fonda and Rick Schroder, to her 1986 series "Our House" with Wilford Brimley and Shannen Doherty. It was on this series that she became the first performer ever to star in both daytime and primetime simultaneously. Deidre and her television family created characters of such value and believability that "Our House" was the first television series to win the Viewers for Quality Television "Seal Of Approval". The same organization also nominated Deidre for Best Actress two years running.
Following a two year run on that series, Deidre took a hiatus from her daytime role to pursue a successful career exclusively in primetime television. She proved her marketability in movies-of-the-week, among which include the NBC movie Take My Daughters, Please which co-starred Rue McClanahan, Kim Delaney & Michael T. Weiss; a multi-episode arc for the Stephen Cannell hit series Wiseguy, an NBC Perry Mason Movie of the Week; and a Columbo Movie of the Week.
Just prior to Deidre's 1991 triumphant return to "Days of our Lives", she starred in the popular mini-series "And The Sea Will Tell", with Richard Crenna and Rachel Ward. She followed this with such ratings successes as the NBC telefilm "Woman On A Ledge" and the NBC miniseries "Tom Clancy's Op Center".
The following year, Deidre once again made television history, when she starred in, as well as executive produced, ABC-TV's "Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story". The telefilm, which chronicled the birth of Hall's first child via the surrogacy process, proved to be a ratings winner amongst the highly sought after 18 to 49 female demographic.
Most recently, Deidre was honored with an Intimate Portrait by Lifetime Television, which saluted her personal and professional achievements. This special garnered a ratings share 44% higher than their average celebrity profile. She has also acted as national spokesperson for such products as Hallmark's "To Kids with Love" card line, Dexatrim weight loss products, Exfole Skin Care Products and Baby Genius child development program. She is currently the consumer spokesperson for ScanDiet, a patented soy protein weight management product.
In 1996, Deidre launched her own jewelry line, The Timeless Collection, which reflected her own life, as well as her character on Days of our Lives. This collection, which included necklaces, bracelets, pins, earrings and watches, was available through the Home Shopping Network. She also released a line of limited edition Christmas ornaments in 1998, which included a high technology digital recording of Deidre reading 'Twas The Night Before Christmas'.
Being a woman of action, Deidre is compelled to respond to serious social issues with the same fervor with which she addresses important career choices and business decisions. Since becoming a mother, she has been a tireless advocate for children's issues. Deidre believes that every child has the right to be loved, nurtured, protected and educated. It is because of this belief that Hall has produced a charity oriented Days Of Our Lives calendar since 1984, and is currently spearheading a cookbook for the Days Of Our Lives cast that will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She is also actively involved with, and has been honored for her contributions by, charities such as P.A.T.H. (People Assisting The Homeless), Habitat For Humanity and Childhelp U.S.A.
Deidre resides in Los Angeles with her two sons.
